Treats and Toes and Vacations Oh My!

Sorry I'm late ya'll! I hate to wait until I got to work to blog. Mornings I'm just happy to function.

Since I couldn't decide on ONE topic to blog on, I thought I'd just ramble a bit. I was thinking last night how desperately I needed a pedicure--which I just love getting! I used to NEVER polish my toenails, but a friend of mine just insisted many years ago that I do and now I do regularly *g*. We all know with the advent of summer (which may only apply south of the Mason-Dixon) that the feet come out.

So, do you do your toes? What's your favorite color? And do you treat yourself, not only to the occasional pedicure but to a massage or an eyebrow wax. Yeah I know.......treats and eyebrow waxing are oxymorons but it's better than doing it yourself.

And in the vein of summer, let's talk vacations. I must admit, there will be NO vacations this year because it's all going in both kid's mouths (braces). But I was surfing the net the other day, planning my dream vacation. What's yours? With or wihtout kids (and money is no object).......and if it's without kids, would you do the nude beach thing?

Post your answers and I'll be back late tonight to pick a couple winners. You'll get your choice of any LSB book on me =)

Just a cottage on the water somewhere, where I can just lie around and read all damned day. That's my dream vacation.

I've only had one pedicure, and while I enjoyed the results, lets just say the process was a little humiliating. It was the morning of my cousin's wedding and her and her mom were supposed to go get pedicures together....the mom chickened out and insisted I go since I was pregnant and could use the pampering.

With only 5 minutes to go before the appointment, there wasn't much time to argue..nor to shave my legs...which hadn't been shaved in a LONG time because hey, I was in college and by the time graduation came around I couldn't afford razor blades. The person doing the pedicure commented that she didn't realize leg hair could grow that long. *sigh* I've never gotten another pedicure since.

For a vacation I'd love to rent a cabin/cottage on a lake that didn't allow motorboats...or maybe go camping in the back country....oh...and I'd leave the kids with grandma so then DH and I could go skinny dipping. Steak-kabobs cooked over a fire, a bottle of wine, early morning canoe rides while there is still fog on the water....

Usually, I just do my own pedicures but with an active toddler I am lucky if I can cut my toenails regularly. :-) When I do paint my toenails it is always frosty colors and usually pinks like a hot pink. Sometimes i will use red. Hubby and I are going to go away for a few days in June for our anniversary. My mother and sister will watch our son so it can just be the two of us for a change.

My dream vacation would be to go on a cruise for a week or to recreate our honeymoon and stay at the same private villa we stayed at in St. Thomas.

As for the nude beach, not a chance. I am at the end of my 4th month of pregnancy and even i don't like looking at how big I am getting already. Although, to be perfectly honest, I am too shy to do it even if i were not pregnant.

I've never had a pedicure, though I'm thinking of rewarding myself with one when I lose 25 pounds. Of course, I have to sart the frickin diet first...

As far as vacations, nude beaches--no way! But Ireland for about 6 weeks or so... yeah. That'd work for me.

I don't like getting my toes done---or pedicures...I HATE FEET! Ew! And I certainly don't want people touching mine! Okay, so for a color...I can paint them 'french' myself! And I'm pretty darn good! I LOVE wearing sandals and flip flops...usually do most of the year, and I live in WA state---but I do wear boots in the winter!

And as for vacation...my dream vacation is Scotland and England. I would love spending days, no--WEEKS, just touring old castles and graveyards (and what better form of 'research', eh?). However close seconds are: New York (to visit my best friend), Texas (to visit YOU!), and Louisiana (to visit Trish and Christy!).

Any vacation would be NO KIDS---aren't the words VACATION and KIDS oxymorons?! =P

Nude beach? Sure, why not...but only if I was with my girlfriends! It would be more fun that way! =)

I have never had a pedicure, but I like to paint my nails myself when the spirit moves me. Funnily enough, I do my hands in the normal way. However, I go a bit wild on my toes. Last time I used sky blue as a main coat, copper for the nail bed done like dunes for all of the toes, green for a cactus on each big toe, and gold for a sun on the upper corner of the same nail.

We vacationed in Bali, and I indulged in a massage on the beach. Women were carrying their own, home rendered coconut oil and you could pay for an hour of massage for less than the cost of a hamburger.

My ideal holiday place would be a beach with plenty of tidepools and sea life to explore and plenty of shade to sit under and read. Kids would be able to play on their own, and tire out well to sleep soundly. My husband and I could enjoy the days and the nights then.

Wouldn't want to do the nude beach experience, don't want to imagine the places one could get sunburnt!

LOL Jolene.......if I had a hubby I woulnd't let him see me dress either--not after 2 c-secs.

Jennie you should definitley treat yourself to another one! And who shaves their legs when they're preggers (or in winter for that matter LOL)

Emma......I'm incredibly ticklish on my feet so pedi's are only a couple times a year thing (normally I do it myself too).

Cherie right now I'm doing a frosty pink because it's more low maintenance and I was in a hurry.

BTW I remember coming downstairs one day to find my 3 YO SON with red fingernails and toes.......and to this day he STILL talks about when he polished his nails LOL

You just don't want to go to the nude beach with Justin cuz the women would be oglin' him ;-)

Denise....maybe you and me and Mik need to plan a mini-retreat at a hotel this summer? Like 4th of July?

Had my first pedicure when I went to Arizona last month. Spitfire red. Hoping to go this weekend and I'm thinking something corally or lipstick pink. I have sensitive feet (read ticklish to the point of embarassment...sigh) but have decided my toes look so pretty that I'm not going to complain.

Dream vacation? Everywhere. Anywhere. Not here. ;)

Lamb...btw I'm not very girly either but the wax is a must--and years of doing it kills lots of hair folicles!

Jenna...I hear you. Anywhere would be nice

SAsha...funny enough I don't care about my hands (and I have tough nails so typing with long ones hurts!)

Estella...congrats on the retirement. I feel your pain on the adjusting finances --summer daycare is coming *OUCH* (but I figure I deserve the wax and a regular hair cut).

Dream vacation:

A month-long tour of Iceland. Been there twice, but have never circumnavagated the isle.

Upcoming vacation:

2.5 days on Orca Island at Doe Bay. In a cottage sans TV and phone. However, my Palm and foldable keyboard are coming with me :)

We'll be attending a barefoot ball--dress up--no shoes--and living a peaceful life for a few days.

Last time I was on Orcas Island, I was inspired to write "The Orca King" my first LSB release...

If you've read "The Orca King" you know about that rock at the end of Lover's Lane (which really exists) whereupon Big Tom and Marian make love for the first time...well...don't be too grossed out...but I like reliving what I write :) It's a hobby of mine (cough, cough)

Oh, no pedicures for me. I have gnarly feet. Hobbit feet. Very scary. I'm a throw-back. The Missing Link. As my uncle used to call me, "A hairy little Arab girl." Not nice, being a racial slur and not considerting the fact that I'm 1/2 Irish, 1/2 Egyptian, but true.

So...no pedicures. None. Nada. I don't want to put a poor pedicurist into a state of shock.

Never had a pedicure nor a wax.....Wouldn't want a pedicure after watching a news report on how some women ended up with a really bad infection which took months to get rid of after having had one. It seems some places didn't sanitize very well. Scary!!

My idea of a great vacation is to go to the beach and be able to read to my heart's content! No nude beaches for me tho....my body was never the same after I had twins whose combined weight was 14 lbs. Kinda stretched my tummy out so that it never went back & the C-section didn't help either. And that was 25 years ago!

I never had a pedicure myself but I hear alot of people say its relaxing so I might try it some time.
As for a vacation.. Well I have no kids right now so it would be adults only. I think I would like to go somewhere where they have horseback riding, beaches, caving, hiking, scuba diving, maybe some skydiving. In between the fun around the cabin/ hotel it would be great to go to a smashing concert one night and end the night in a romantic midnight beach stroll.
