Under a Rogue Moon

When I start writing a story, I know two things. I know my ending, and I know I'm going to miss it when it's gone. There's no thought about what's going to happen to it, whether I'll get to share it with others or not. I live in a fervor for the weeks it takes to get it out of my head and onto my laptop, and then when I type The End, I push my chair back and wish it didn't have to end.

But it doesn't always have to end. Not for my newest story, Under a Rogue Moon. Because I've been so very fortunate to be able to work with Liquid Silver in bringing it to others who might choose to walk in the world I did. It's the world of demonhunter Flanna McRae, a schism of training and preparation in her quiet English home and a week out of every month where she goes on the prowl for werewolves. Under a Rogue Moon begins at the end of a disastrous hunt for Flanna, where one of a pack she is hunting escapes. She returns to her normal life, unknowing that she has now been targeted by the last remaining werewolf. It takes the arrival of another demonhunter, Jason Randolph, for Flanna to learn the truth. The relationship that develops between Jason and Flanna is heated, to say the least, but as a lot of my stories tend to be, their love story is wrapped tightly with the action going on around them.

The excerpt available on the website is chapter one of the book. Later this morning, I'm going to post another excerpt from the beginning of chapter three. To celebrate my first LSB release, I'll be giving away a free copy of Under a Rogue Moon. All you have to do is leave a comment on either this post or the excerpt, and at the end of the day, I'll pick one lucky winner at random. :)

I'm at work and don't know if I'll see you excerpt until later this afternoon/evening.

I am so happy for you and happy for me for a new story to read.

I've read your novels on Linden Bay Romance and I'm so excited for you that one of your novels has made it to print. I'm going to order it as soon as I get my paycheck next week.

This is a very good beginning to what looks to be an exciting story. I hate that I've fallen behind on your stories and need to catch up again.

Manoah: I'm going to excerpt in about half an hour, so that people have the whole day to read it.

Kourttears: It's not print yet, hon! LSB is another wonderful e-publisher, so for now, Under a Rogue Moon is available digitally. Fingers crossed that print is not too far on the horizon, though. :)

Amy S.: I *love* my cover. I'd seen Jason in my head while I wrote it, but after seeing April's gorgeous cover, he took on a whole new life for me. Something about seeing those eyes I described staring back at me, I guess. :)

Hi Vivien, your story sounds great and that cover and title goes so well together. Do you have a website?

Jennice: Isn't it awful how life gets in the way of our fun? But you've been busy with far more important things than reading lately. I only hope things start evening out for you. *hugs*

Jennybrat: Thanks! And yes, I do have a website. It's here. It took me a while to get it live, but it's there now, thank goodness. :)

Hi Vivien, what a COOL! cover! The teaser makes it sound fun too. Congratulations!

Flanna is an unusual name. The web says it's Gaelic but it's new to me. Scots? What made you choose it?

BTW. This is Sammywol who is apparently stuck inside her husband's blog account.

Hey Sammy! The original idea for this started when I began debating twisting fairy tales into original erotic romance. I picked "Little Red Riding Hood" because of the potential for erotic tension, and Flanna got chosen both for its Gaelic origins (I wanted her family British in some way) and because it means "red-haired". The name stuck even when I strayed really far from the original concept because that was how I was thinking of her at that point, even when a friend said it sounded too much like the Mexican dessert, lol. :)

Jennifer Y: Thanks! Here's hoping the readers enjoy it as much as I do. :)

Kim - Thanks, hon! Sometimes it felt like this day was never going to get here, but then yesterday, I was like, It's out? Already?!? :)

Estella - Werewolves were a new thing for me. Usually my paranormal toe dips into vampire waters, so I had fun coming up with this new world. I hope you enjoy it!

Vivien, I really like Jason, too, and want to get to know more about him after reading this excerpt; great cover.

Loved the look of your site when I first saw it, simple yet very pretty and soft.

Tami - When I first saw my cover, I squee'd so loudly, my kids wanted to know what was wrong, lol. I *love* my cover; Jason's eyes just get to me every single time. :)

PamK - Thanks! I love doing paranormal suspense. Suspense/mysteries in general are my favorites, so when I get to wrap them up with erotic romance, I'm in heaven. :)

Pam P. - Thank you for your kind words! I'm especially proud of how the site turned out; I need to direct my friend Thia - the wonderful artist who designed it for me - here so that she can see the lovely things everybody keeps saying about her work.

Pam S - Thanks so much for the continued support! I'm such a sucker for blue eyes. Hubby's got 'em, my son's got 'em, and most of my fictional crushes have 'em. At least I'm predictable. :)
