My Confession

Wait. Did you hear that? That was a New Year's Resolution disintegrating. Twenty-one days into the new year. That's got to be a record with me.

See, I have a teeny, tiny problem. My name is Jenna and I'm a Blog Crack Addict Whore. At the beginning it didn't seem like an addiction. I visited the blogs of my friends. My circle of reading was contained. And then...I branched out.

Big mistake. Huge mistake.

For once you go out there, you're in dangerous. There are treacherous blogs out there, my friends. Treacherous blogs! Blogs of excellent writing. Funny blogs. Thoughtful blogs. Smart blogs. Drunken singles blogs. There are blogs to be read. To be read!!! And then come the comments. Ahhh the comments. Once you comment, they've sucked you in. Suck. You. In. Because then you have to go back to read the response to your comment. And so begins the cycle.

The cycle of not writing. And that's the problem. I wasn't writing. Oh I tried but before long I'd be bloggin' forgetting about my gun-totting heroes who just want to bag the babe and the babe who just wanted to be bagged and the villain who needed to die. This was not good. Not good at all. And so I needed to get tough. I needed discipline. (pounds fist into other palm)

I sought advice that wasn't needed. The answer was simple: don't blog. Pardon me - laughter in my head. I dropped out of publisher blogging (it's going well...dontcha think?), I removed comments from my blog (for one weekend. Heck, it might have been one day.) and I cut down to 3 days a week on my own blog (that's going far.) The problem with not blogging is that I need to do something with all my spare time. Once the blogging euphoria faded, I looked around and realized my place was a pit so I cleaned. I. Cleaned. Let's just say that again: I cleaned. I'm still cleaning. I've organized the cupboard under my kitchen sink and bathroom sink. I've. Organized. Let's say that again: I've organized. Did you know my carpet was beige? Beige!

But no amount of bleach fumes can remove the need to blog. I am. Falling of the blog wagon. Sigh.

But my intervention has one positive side effect. I'm writing. I. Am. Writing!! My business card is no longer a lie. Now I just have to finish what I'm writing and submit to my editors so they don't forget who I am. *cough* (waves to editors)

Sigh. I'm still bummed about not having discipline. It seems like such a cool thing to put on a resume. Jenna Howard Disciplined Writer sounds so much better than Jenna Howard Blog Crack Addict Whore.

To celebrate my falling off my blog intervention, I'm giving away a copy of Scorpio with my story Midnight Hour and Deanna Lee's She Was a Showgirl. Hurrah! Say it with me "Free book, free book!" I'll have to announce the winner tomorrow as I have my friend's daughter's birthday party tonight. Double digits - highly important you know.

You'll see me soon on A&E's Intervention: Confessions of a Blog Crack Addict Whore. It will be emotional. Everyone shall weep copious amounts of tears. It will win best reality show episode. Vin Diesel will say "Dang...that woman is grr sexy." and hunt for me and I will fulfill my dream of going to Jamaica on someone else's buck. I have big dreams. Big dreams! Oh, yeah, and finish a story for LSB. Very important. Thanks for letting me fall of the wagon, Tina. Whoo! Yeah for fallen resolutions. Whoo!

*giggles* Holy gods, that's funny. That sounds like me! Only... i still need to clean. And write... but the obsession part sounds just like me. Hm... i don't know about Vin. i need a guy with hair... long hair... to play with... *drools* Where was i? Oh, you fell off the bandwagon. But you were doing so well! *cries copious amounts of tears, as the Intervention people tape*

*patpat* Okay, i need to stop and get more sleep.

Many blessings,

Yes, blogging can be a very addictive thing. Like email, which I check compulsively every 5 minutes. Whoever invented wireless connections... well, I'm not sure if I wanna kiss him or kill him. :)

You're doing okay, Jenna. Just take a deep breath and repeat after me: I can get through this. It's only one day. I can get through this. It's only one day.

Good morning, Jenna! Thanks for the early morning cuckle!!

I wish I could write as much as you and as funny as you when I have nothing to say. I envy you! Really, I do! :)

Have a great day!!

LOL Jenn... you crazy nut! I love ya anyway -- even if I wish Jack and the boys would come out and play for awhile. Wish they could keep my boys busy for awhile... Prince Charming isn't too receptive when I drop my paintbrush and run into the bedroom on the basis of "Oooh! I just got an idea!!!"

(We just moved into a new apartment. So far, I've made him paint the entire living room wall three colors... and think I have changed my mind again :op)

Glad to see you are writing... Can't wait for my dedication, dear ;op

Chibi - how can you hm over Vin? I mean...those arms!!

Sherrill: y'know it. But I last a week. Pretty good for this girl. Yes, yes - one day at a time. But why must all my blogging energy go into cleaning? That's just unhealthy.

Felicia! My friend! It takes a great talent to say nothing at all. A great talent.

Landra, fan o' mine, Jack & the Boys are a pain in my ass. "Write us" "Don't write us" Harumph. I'd punch them if I could. Painting? I have no talent for that. I get paint everywhere but where I'm supposed to.

Okey doke, my breakfast is ready. Well, half ready. Have to go flip the toast. I shall return. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Of not.

Arrest me now...

*grins* Sorry Jenna. Vin is awesome and hot, i will admit. But if i get a hot guy to play with besides the one i already have... he needs to have long hair! LOL, i have a long hair fetish, i admit it. *hangs her head*

Ah Tina - but what a hit. The toast was my Jenny Craig french toast in the toaster oven. Deelicious.

Pam - surprising my book isn't funny. I can't seem to write funny in my stories without wanting to jump off my balcony. But don't let that stop you from shopping!

Kim - all my characters are demanding to be 'bagged'. It's very exhausting living with this many people in my head.

Chibi - ah Vin is all that and a bag of chips. Long hair huh? Can't say I've ever gotten the long hair thing. Maybe because their hair looks better than mine.

Glad you enjoyed Showgirl, Elizabeth but what about Midnight Hour? Sniff. That was a great review. I hadn't even noticed the misspelling of my name. I believe it was because you were so dazzled my Midnight Hour that you couldn't think straight. Yes. That's it. Landra had noticed the spelling. lol. I'll swing by to check out your blog. A Blog Crack Addict Whore can never have too many blogs.

I love being anything Mel. It's the diva in me.

Jenny! Our latest Indulge member! I'll blog anywhere. Anywhere. Granted, I'm not allowed to but my militant friend Kate isn't here to give me grief. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha. I shall run amok. Amok!!

lol, don't be so hard on yourself, Jenna. After all you make your living with the written word and you never know where you will get an idea for a story. Is that a positive spin or what!

Have a good day everyone. :)

Jenna, isn't it nice to know that you don't have that New Year's Resolution hanging over your head, waiting for you to fail?

You've failed and now you can go on with your life, guilt-free, and blog to your heart's content. Enjoy!

Just wanted to let you know, the USA channel is playing Pitch Black, so I'm suffering through watching Vin, just for you. Because that's what friends are for, right? Takin' one for the team...

I'll say it, since no one else has:

Midnight Hour is a fantastic read. Very sympathetic and interesting characters and creeeeeeeepy bad guy.

If you don't win a copy of Jenna's book today, stop messing around and go to and buy it!

Thanks for the laugh, Jenna! I enjoyed your blog.

Maybe instead of thinking that you broke your New Year's resolution, think that you've modified the resolution to something that's more realistic for you. :)

Running amok sounds like fun too! :)

Rae - dang, I like that!! Yes. Now I can relax for the rest of the year. Cool.

Sherrill...way to take one for the team. I'm tearing up in pride. I don't get the USA channel and so I'm highly envious. And yes...everyone should buy Scorpio. tell 'em, my friend.

And to everyone supporting me falling off the blog wagon...thanks. It means so much that you guys have my back.

Well, I am a contest junkie, Jenna. At times, I have ignored house chores and other personal matters while surfing to find new ones to enter. Grrrrrrrr it was taking over my life. I vowed to stop doing it and was doing pretty good until you offered this one......

Thanks for letting me fall of the wagon. hee hee

*grins* Well, i have thigh-length hair, so i don't have to worry about that. It's a bitch to care for though. *sighs*

i'm addicted to blogs. They have so much... information! i just won't get into which ones i go to... there is TMI, and then there's my blogging habits.

i got my review done! So... now i get to wander around until i get more to review. i'm kinda sleepy... maybe a nap. i have to do bills tonight, and make more food for Mama and Daddy. Gods above and below, help! LOL

Mahaira: i agree, i try to find all the contests i can! They're wonderful and i get really happy when i find one.

i haven't broken any of my resolutions yet. Ugh, all that pressure.

You made me giggle. I'm new to blogging but I'm quite sure it won't be addictive for me. I only post 10 or 12 times a day. Of course, I can quit any time I like.

(time passes)

See? I quit right in the middle of this blog. Piece of cake. No addiction here. Um, where else did you say you have a blog...?

Is that what I need to get my house organized? Stop blogging? hmmm.... *grin*

Give it time, you'll be putting flylady out of business.

And just don't get sucked into the blogs where the only purpose is to introduce you to other blogs. There's one that I can just sit there for hours on...

Jenna, I for one am glad your reworking your New Year's resolutions so you include periodically blogging. Your blogs are a joy. They never fail to make me at least smile if not outright laugh. You blog, Girl! Although, leave enough time for writing more of your stories! I enjoy those, too!! :)

I'm back with 3 vodka & cokes in me. Aren't I a class act "auntie" at a 10 year old's birthday party.. Every time the room full of girls would squeal (high pitched...y'know so high only dogs hear them?) I made another drink.

I am feeling no pain.

Kayelle...that was so funny. That is so me.

Livejournal? What the heck is that and where can I get some, Tamara?

Pink Pen - everytime I find a new blog to cry I go through the stages: tears of fear, euphoria, resignation, acceptance. It's all good.

Lauren - you are not helping me my friend. Not helping at all.

Wow...I have a wicked buzz on. Awesome.
