Getting Old

Not me…snort…:)

My hubby just came home this evening all bummed out. You see he had to have his flight physical today. As a captain, he must have a physical every six months to keep his pilot license and of course keep his job. But today, he got the worst possible news he could get. He must wear reading glasses. Can you see me rolling my eyes? All that fuss over reading glasses?? My god, I thought he was dying or something.

Anyway, he’s all concerned about getting old. He’s not. To me he’s at just the right age. He’s 42, still in good shape with black hair sprinkled with just a bit of salt. Adding a pair of glasses would just, in my opinion, make a already sexy man, sexier. But of course try to convince him of that. A man who sees glasses as the end of his world...:(

The whole point to this, I guess, is the age of your hero. For me, I like the older ones. No one younger than thirty-five usually. Now I do have some exceptions, but for the most part they’re older, wiser and more seasoned. And we can hope, more grown up…:)

What age hero do you like? Do you like then young and randy or older and arrogant? Or does it matter?

Post your opinion and I'll pick one winner to receive a basket of assorted goodies. And I make good baskets, ya'll...:) As well as a choice of any one of my releases that are now available. It will be burned to a CD, authographed, and stuffed into the basket with all the other goodies.

Happy posting and remember, if you can't be young physically, remain young at heart...:)

Wickedly yours,

Older, definitely. To me, a guy in his early 30s still has some growing up to do. (Well, sheesh, my dad's 79 and he's the biggest baby I know, so maybe they don't ever really grow up!) But I always feel like I have to suspend my disbelief when I read a book where the hero's acting all manly and experienced, and then I find out he's 27.

Oy.

I mean, I realize at 27 he could have 10 (or more, which is sad) years of experience, but at 40-something... ay carumba. Light the sheets on fire! :)

Poor, poor hubby! I remember well the day I went to the optometrist and was told I had reached "that age" where glasses are necessary.

I also like older heroes. Solid, rugged, steady--it's hard to be these things if a guy doesn't have a little age on him. The hero in my latest book is in his 50s and he still makes my heroine's heart race. Fiction? I don't think so since my dh is at that same age and I know how I feel about him. :)

I like the hero to be older as well. I'm thirty-two, and like them to be at least a little older than me. Before I met my husband, I dated one younger guy. He was 22 to my 25 years at the time. I remember thinking that if he said Dude! one more time, I would not be responsible for my actions lol! I guess I like a hero with some life experience. It builds character, adds depth, and heart. And after all, what is sexier than that?

Late 20's to about 50's and not a huge difference in age between the hero and the heroine.

Definitely an older hero being I'm 55.
But I agree with an older man being more distinquished, having more experience, knowing a lot of moves being they be gentle and/or to whatever is needed for you. Wow, is it getting hot in here!

Glasses do add character on a lot of men. I like the sprinkle of white(salt/pepper hair); hubby has that going on for him.

Well, I used to like them young and randy but now I want them older. I've found that guys below the age of 35 wreak my last good nerve. Shhhh, don't tell my fiance. *G*

I know what you mean about the dude thing. Yuck! LOL.

I especially like it when they peer at you over the top edge of their glasses with that amused, sexy expression...:)

Definitely a little older. A little maturity and he knows what he wants and appreciates when he gets it.

I call dibs on hero's 35 and older! They seem to have it more together. They are usually settled into their careers. They have mature muscles. Their shoulders have usually filled out. A nice place for resting my head or for holding a sleeping child. *sigh* Nice chest hair, a little gray in the hair and reading glasses. Yeah, baby.

Happy Holidays everyone! ;)

I find as long as they're out of the 20s I'm good. I read a book where the hero was 21. Um. Yeah. No.

Granted, it all depends on what happened to the hero in his 30+ years on the "planet" (re book) keep me ringing.

I like them older, experienced and just a little jaded. 30 to 35 years old is just about right.

I like an older hero who is mature, but still knows how to have fun and knows what he is doing! :)

young and randy vs. old and arrogant....

how about very old, but perpetually young and randy? firm young flesh. firm young flesh that craves slightly older, looser flesh and a few wrinkles.

Since I'm in my 40's I would have to say older and more mature - but definitely good-natured and young at heart. My hubby also has the salt and pepper hair thing going on too and I've caught him wearing my reading glasses a time or two (he looks so darn cute).

The older I get the more I dislike reading stories with the more mature hero (30's and over) and a young virginal 18 year old.

Give me something I can relate to or fantasize about - and a hero young enough to be my son makes me feel pervy.

I love older men the younger ones just turn me off. The older are more likely to be in tune with you and want your imput on most things. Younger ones seem to act like they know it all already lol.

I have always liked them older..maybe because they are more experienced and know what to do. Of course there is something to be said about younger guys that you have to teach..that can be fun too

I'd say 28-48 is good for me, although it really depends on the story and how old the heroine is. I really don't like when there's a huge difference in age.

Older or younger? Hmmm. Well, there are some older men who have never matured. Sure don't want that problem. Then there are the younger men who have matured early.

Gee, I think it is a case-by-case issue with me. I admit to raising my hubby, I got him when he was a ripe 18 and he has matured well. I like to think that I had something to do with that. Oh and yes, he is spoiled, but he spoils me.

If I have to choose, I would say older is better. I do like the Indiana Jones type of hero -- smart, adventurous, good sense of humor, and, well, a hero.

Of course there is always Vin Diesel. How old is Vin? Early 30s?
