What did 2005 bring for you?
As we round our way into 2006, here’s some of the things that have happened to me in the last year. Please share your experiences as well. Some are good, and some are bad, but I finish off the year with a bang.
As of tomorrow, with the publication of Jingle My Bell, I will have published a record nine novels with http://liquidsilverbook.com. :)
Stolen Courage was awarded Outstanding Book of the Year from Enchanted in Romance Readers Choice Award (EIRRCA). :)
My book Gabe's Prize was chosen for the 2005 Reviewer Choice award from eCataromance.com. :)
I was awarded a speaking engagement at the 2006 Romantic Times convention with Rocki St. Claire and Pamela Britton, and my group, http://CrimeinMind.com was given a two-hour presentation slot at the Silicon Valley RWA conference. :)
I acquired an agent … but she never sold anything :(
I was diagnosed with an incurable auto-immune disease, Multiple Sclerosis. :(
I finished what I considered to be my NY breakout novel :), Blood Squad, but haven’t sold it to NY yet. :(
My sister got a divorce. :(
So what does all this say about me… I have the will to persevere, in good :) and bad :(
What does 2005 say about you?

Morning Rae,
Your post brought a smile to my lips and sadness to my heart. So many times in our busy life, we forget to ask a simple question of our friends, "how are you?"
I'm sorry to have been guilty of not asking. I had no idea life dealt you such trials this past year, but knowing you, I can see the determination on your face to overcome them all.
Congrats on the awards for your books, all of which are deserving of such high praise and more.
Be well, my friend and may 2006 bring more :) than :(

Well, life has its up and downs, but for me, writing and sharing my stories makes me smile. So, I keep doing it, and it keeps rewarding me. So the downs, ahhh, who cares. But the ups... whoo, hooo
Great year for you, Paige!!! Really, life is always going to try and throw things in our way, we just have to keep pressing on ;)
To the other LSB Rae --
Hugs on the autoimmune diagnosis. Research is making strides every day so who knows? -- the cure or at least optimal treatment for MS could be just around the corner.
And hugs on the book awards. And I'll see you at RT.

Rae, I admire your perseverence in the face of adversity. Your books kick butt, too! I enjoyed meeting you in Reno and hope to run into at other conferences (maybe RT) in 2006. Write on!
Thanks Mel, thanks sis Rae. Keep writing.
Great post Rae!!
2005 has been just weird from a writer's sense. I think it's because 2004 was such an UP year and this year has been a struggle--despite two releases.
I fired my agent.
I struggled to write.
I bought my first house. Which didn't make the writing any easier LOL.
I sold two books.
And wracked up another slew of rejections.
I still have not completely finished writing one whole manuscript this year, but I'm close and I will =).
Funny enough I spent the end of November taking a long hard look at where I was and where I wanted to go in 2006.
Wow, so 2005 has been a soul searching year for you too, huh? I hear ya, know exactly what you're talking about.
Seems like we can't escape from the ups and downs, huh? I've had a very good year with lots of stories released, many good reviews and a couple so-so ones, and several rejections from agents. Still haven't found one yet, but I remain hopeful. Sounds like finding the right one is really key.
And really have been having a much better year as far as my son's ADHD and his schooling. Less calls from the principal, though they certainly haven't ceased entirely.
Two new car engines (same car!). You know, now that I look back, seems the good outweighs the bad by quite a bit this year.
CeCe, like you I've been reflecting on where I want to go and how to get there in 2006.

Shara, you're doing great!!!
Truly sorry to read the sad things you, and everyone else, had happen in 2005....glenda

Wishing all of you good for 2006!
2005 has been awful. I lost two friends, moved, found out my father has senile dementia and found out I have a hole in my retina. On a good note, I got a membership to the YMCA and I'm now a six year breast cancer survivor.
I hope 2006 is better.
It's surprising how quickly 2005 has passed, yet at the same time how much has occurred in it for me. From idea to execution, my writing career has mushroomed. Magazine articles, anthology stories, then e-published books of my very own all in the space of 12 months. Amazing what applied willpower and a wonderful publishing company (brown nose alert)can do.
Hope your MS remains manageable until the cure is developed--and it will be.
Rae Monet,
Hugs on the MS. You have a lot of courage and talent, a powerful combination, so I know you will prevail.
2005 has been a terrific year for me! So far, this is the first year in several that we've not lost a dear family member. I'm counting my blessings.
My sis was in a serious accident and had to have hand surgery. But thanks to the steel safety bar in her Ford Escort (Ford is nuts for discontinuing that sturdy little car!) and her safety harness, she wasn't killed. The airbag broke two of her fingers and she's still in PT for that, but we're just thankful that's the worst of it.
Although I haven't any new books out, I've been writing a lot. Two of my efforts will be released in January, a novella (AQUARIUS: A LICK AND A PROMISE, part of the Zodiac series with new LSB sensation Paige Burns) and my first-ever time travel erotic romance, HEART OF A SOLDIER. So I've had a productive year and am very excited about 2006. I'm now co-writing an erotic romance with another LSB author that is lots of fun. But it's too early to discuss that project yet!
I wish all of our readers and my LSB colleagues blessings in the upcoming year.

Great, along with the bad, great to see the good coming out. As humans, I think we have to take the bad with the good, that's what makes life interesting. The key is, to have a good attitude about it, which I think we all have.
Rae it's been a really weird year but it seems like it has been for a lot of people! You DO learn to take it all in stride, otherwise we'd be sitting in a corner drooling *ggg*
LOL, so true, Cece.
Let's see 2005....
I became the grandma of twin boys, got a few publications, started doing cover art, read some great Venus Press titles, and enjoyed being me. :D
Now that's what's it's all about Sable, now you're takin ;).
