3 Things that...

About a week ago, I was "tagged" to participate in an impromptu survey for my friend Vanessa Hart's blog. The survey wanted me to provide a series of questions with lists.

To tell the truth, I wasn't all that excited to do this, but since it came from a friend I decided to give it a shot. As it turned out, trying to think of the top answers to the questions was kind of fun. So maybe you'd like to try, too, except I'll just ask you to select your top three items. To start you off, here're the questions and my answers:

7 Things to do before I die
Eat at Jasper’s, Stroud’s and Jess and Jim’s as many times as possible
Travel with Jack (including back to the Icefield Parkway, and to Scotland and Italy)
Write a book that will touch someone enough they’d list it as 1 of 7 books they love
Do something truly worthwhile that makes a positive difference in someone’s life
Make sure those I love know it
See another Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall
Spend more time with friends and family I don’t see nearly enough

7 Movies I can watch multiple times
Dr. Zhivago
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Last Crusade
Paint Your Wagon
The Princess Bride
Airplane
Charade
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir

7 Things I can’t do
Most things physical
Grow anything
Manage to blend or arrange colors
Figure out networks
Learn foreign languages easily
Stand on my toes
Imagine life without my best friend

7 Things that attract me to men
Humor
Integrity
Intelligence
Kindness
Good manners
Conversationalist with vocabulary beyond the F word
Even temperament

7 Books or series I love
Lonesome Dove
Colleen McCullough’s Rome series
Outlander
The Winds of War
Lord of the Rings & Hobbit
Up Country
The Hunt for Red October or Red Storm Rising

7 Things I say most often
God! (Sorry, Lord! I know I’m going to Hell for that one.)
Shoot!
For Pete’s sake
Day-am (Damn in Southern speak)
Oh my gosh
Yeah, right
Hey

Now, will you share with me? Just give the top 3 items.
3 Things I want to do before I die
3 Movies I can watch multiple times
3 Things I can't do
3 Things that attract me to a man
3 Books or series I love
3 Things I say the most

At the end of the day, I'll select a winner for a prize I won't name--but I think you'll like it. Trust me, lol! Or need I name 3 Reasons why you should?

Sherrill, I'm so with you on the trip to the UK and Scotland!! And who wants to avoid chocolate?? BTW, I recognized your name, lol.

Hi, polheber2. I loved some of your answers! Spend your kids' inheritance? That's a worthy goal--it's one my inlaws had and they did a good job. Enjoyed themselves while they did it, too. I say, if the guy has "a really ripped chest and belly," who cares if it's shallow to like it? I mean, there's a limit to "deep." And I have a very good friend who says, "Whatever," all the time. So much meaning in one little word!

I'm glad you enjoyed the exercise. Like I said, I was dragged to it, kicking and screaming, and before I knew it I was saying, "Wait a minute--I'd watch THAT movie more times that that one..." lol

Mahaira, can I come with you to do the things you want to do before you die?? Well, not to make love on the forest floor--you know what I mean! They all sound wonderful.

I can tell the mothers in this list. They all say things like "Stop it!" and "What are you doing?" Godomothers and fathers are among the most admirable people in the world!! Being a good parent is probably the hardest job in the world!

Robynl you are one practical person—fixing my will never entered my mind, but of course it’s the right thing to do before you die. I so agree with Miracle on 34th Street, but only the older version, with Natalie Woods as the little girl.

Hey, Jenna! I think I was tagged by someone your tagger tagged. (Did that make sense?) Flying is hard, huh? I’ve screamed, “We’re going to die,” but in a truck going down Donner’s Pass. It’s not much fun to have those thoughts when you know you’re not in control. I sympathize with you!

Thanks for blogging with me, Jennifer! I hope you travel the world before having children, ‘cause chances are you won’t be able to for a long time afterward, lol. And I can’t sew, either, unless you count attaching buttons as sewing… Unfortunately, most people don't.

Holy moly, I don't fly well at all, Dee. I don't know how a seat cushion can be a flotation device that will save my life if we crash in the ocean. First, I think the fall would kill me since a belly flop off the high diving board packs one helluva wallop so a plane which is huge has got to hit hard and fast. And second what about the sharks...what about the sharks?!?!?! (gasping for breath) I won't even mention what it's like to fly over the mountains...at night. Dear god. Just...Dear God.

I'm, like, the best flight buddy in the whole freakin' world.

Blogger Dee S Knight and Anne Krist said...

Oh my word, Jenna! I feel for you!! Does closing the window screen help? Valium? Hypnosis?

I was nervous the first time I flew overseas because I have a healthy distrust of water. Bathub? Okay. Pools? Well, maybe. Oceans? No, thanks. But I watched the movie, took a book and generally kept occupied, only thinking once or twice that I was in the air over miles of water. I found the trick was keeping my mind busy, even if it was with a fluff movie.

Hey there, Jenny. You are the second person to mention a guy’s ass. I never pay attention to a man’s posterior, but I must start! And I LOVE the three things you say the most—I just hope they’re not in that order!! “What? Oh, hi. Shit!” lol

Jessica, boy do I ever feel your pain on not wanting to put down a book once it’s started!! And DH has given up (after all these years) asking me when I’m coming to bed if I’m involved in a book. I don’t read when he’s up and about, though. Fortunately, he goes to bed a couple hours ahead of me and that’s when I play. :)

I love that you said your son wants to sing at a sporting event. Is this something he might really be able to do? I mean he has the voice and contacts and such? How very cool!!

Some of the lists I made had me using my brain, too. I hate it when that happens!

It’s hard for me to choose books I love, Elizabeth, because we move so much I rarely keep books. And with my feeble brain, out of sight is out of mind. I mean, in my original list I forgot Pride and Prejudice—HOW could I have done that??

You can’t rub circles and pat?? Yeah, I never mastered it either, but DH can. Just ONE of the many things he does soooo well. Enough said.

See, Dee, with the smile you can see that he's fine coming and with the ass you can see that he's fine going. The third choice keeps me captured in the conversation. Beginning. Middle. End. Excellent.

Nothing helps. It's the take-off, the landings, the freakin' turbulence. Forget it!! And I always manage to see a movie with a plane crash in it before I get on a plane. Gadzooks. Actually, if I ever have the money one thing I'd love to do is travel from coast to coast on VIA Rail. That would be cool. Plus there, like, no flying involved. It would be neat to see Canada by train. But I need a lot of money for a niiiiice room because I don't want a little cubicle bunk bed. I fell out last time. Sigh.

Shoot, Jenna, I guess I shoulda figured that coming and going thing sooner, but I’m a slow learner, lol. I’ve often thought—when I do think about men’s asses—that it’s unfair they’re usually so compact and flat. God’s sense of humor!

Trains are great, and I’d also love to take one across Canada, but the trouble is, you can’t go overseas on a train. (I just thought I’d mention that, lol.) I have to admit, I’m not crazy about landings, myself. If you're nervous about landing, don't ever fly into Reagan National in DC!! It's like you fly in at 300 mph and stop in 20 feet.

I do love the little pictures on the emergency brochure (and now videos) that show what to do in a crash. The people all look so calm, and in fact, almost pleased to be crashing. Unlike the more realistic “crash positions” in Airplane, lol.

Hi, Cherie. I’ve noticed “Shit!” seems to be a popular choice for things people say most. It’s a good word—packs a punch and is acceptable, so people don’t automatically think you’re going to go to hell if you say it.

Michelle, I cheated, didn’t I? I should have thought up a topic more original, but this is my third blog in a week. I’m about blogged out, lol.

Oh, man!!! Amy, you want to win the lottery before you die?? Why didn’t I think of that?? It should have been first choice. You’re a wise woman!

A sterling silver charm from this blog? You want that dirty, nasty, pornographic penis charm that Michelle Hoppe offers, don't you, meljprincess! Yeah, Michelle’s got the penis charm, but ask her where she got the keychain with moving parts of the couple doing it!

I think by far you have the best 3 things that attract you to a man! I bow to your wisdom.

And you say “Thank you” a lot? That’s so sweet and yet so cool!

Mahaira, darling...I've made love on a forest floor. It was leafy, cold and wet. The forest floor is made for beetles, feet and little scurrying creatures...not my lily-white a$$ or other various and sundry body parts...

However, in "The Orca King" I have the hero and heroine romp like wildcats in the forest. And they seemed to like it just fine! :)

I don't have any email to reach y'all except here, so I'll say these few things and hope you see them.

Jessica, I think that's the coolest thing in the world, that your son has that kind of talent. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he gets to sing at a Rangers game!! Let me know how it goes in Nashville, will you?

meljprincess, you're a nasty girl--we could be friends, lol. I'm tellin' ya, woman, it's Michelle that has the penis charms. I only have the filthy keyrings!

I think I might have to find those penis necklaces, though, just to see if people recognize them. It could be a real conversation starter.
